The Special Prosecution Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) has exposed a money laundering and corruption scheme linked to Erion Veliaj and his wife, Ajola Xoxa.

According to SPAK’s investigation files, Xoxa spent 86 million lekë (approximately €850,000) on luxury clothing and jewelry over four years without declaring these expenses in any official asset disclosures.

“The Special Prosecution has gathered substantial evidence concluding that Ajola Xoxa, either personally or through close associates, made significant online purchases of clothing, jewelry, and other luxury items amounting to 86,721,175 lekë. These expenses were not reported in any of the official asset declarations,” SPAK’s report states.

Additionally, the prosecution claims that Xoxa failed to meet legal transparency obligations in her financial activities, including her involvement in non-profit organizations that generated significant income. Evidence suggests these NGOs were linked to private businesses, forming a complex financial network designed to conceal illicit funds.

“Her failure to declare her participation in a non-profit organization, which also controlled a commercial entity, prevented authorities from tracing substantial financial movements,” the report continues.

The investigation indicates that these financial maneuvers were part of a broader corrupt network operated by Veliaj and Xoxa, leveraging public funds through construction permits, municipal contracts, and financial transfers to controlled entities.

With scrutiny mounting, SPAK is expanding its investigation into additional financial irregularities, which could lead to further legal consequences for those involved.
