Albania’s opposition has accused police of excessive and unlawful use of force after Democratic Party MP Bledion Nallbati was injured and rushed to the Trauma Hospital during clashes outside Parliament in Tirana.

According to opposition officials, Nallbati suffered a head injury after being struck by police during crowd control operations. The Democratic Party claims officers used batons and tear gas indiscriminately, targeting protesters and elected representatives alike.

Police say they intervened after protesters threw Molotov cocktails, fireworks, and hard objects, confirming that eight officers were injured. Opposition leaders reject this justification, arguing that police actions were disproportionate and amounted to political repression.

The incident has further escalated tensions, with the opposition warning that police violence against lawmakers represents a serious threat to democratic order and the right to protest in Albania.
