A court hearing in Milan drew attention because of an unusual request from the detainee: release from her cell so she could promote her new song on social media. The 26-year-old Emanuela Maria Lamedica, known as Lamedica, appeared before the court after a complaint filed by her grandmother.
The request in the courtroom
During the hearing to review the security measure, Lamedica asked Judge Chiara Valori to allow her to return home. Her argument was that her new song was about to be released on Spotify and she needed to promote it on Instagram.
In essence, the 26-year-old insisted that she had a professional commitment that could not be postponed, turning the hearing into an episode that drew reactions in the courtroom.
What she is accused of
The artist had been arrested after a complaint made by her grandmother. She faces accusations of mistreatment and verbal insults.
According to the defense, the case concerns abusive behavior and insults toward the elderly woman, while her lawyer has argued that this was not a physical attack.
The court’s decision
Despite the attention drawn by the request to promote the song, the judge’s decision was not based on the detainee’s artistic activity, but on the legal circumstances of the case.
At the end of the hearing, the court ordered the 26-year-old’s release from prison, but imposed restrictive measures. She will be monitored with an electronic bracelet and will not be allowed to have contact with her grandmother, who is considered the injured party.
Back on social media after release
During the hearing, Lamedica also spoke about the conditions in the cell at San Vittore prison, where she had spent the night. However, she insisted that she also had to meet obligations related to her music project.
After her release, the artist posted material on Instagram promoting the new song, “Maniere forti,” part of her project following the song “Barbie nel ghetto.” In one of the posts, she asked followers to listen to it and share it.
The case has drawn attention not only because of the nature of the accusations, but also because of the way social media and public image entered a hearing that, at its core, concerned security measures and the protection of an elderly woman.
Beyond the online uproar, the case remains open on the legal front, and its weight will be measured by the facts that will be examined by the justice system.
