The latest update published by the Ministry of Defense points to 32 fire hotspots reported in the last 24 hours, while 11 of them remain active. According to the official version, some of the other hotspots are under monitoring or have been extinguished, while forces on the ground have concentrated on several of the most problematic areas.
Official toll: 32 hotspots in one day, 11 not yet extinguished
According to the Ministry of Defense, of the 32 hotspots reported during the last 24 hours, 11 are still active, 5 are under monitoring and 16 have been extinguished.
The figures show a strained situation in several counties, while institutions are presenting an expanded commitment on the ground to contain the spread of the flames.
Government lists forces on the ground and aerial assets
According to official data, 735 local personnel and 64 fire engines have been engaged in the operations to tackle the fires.
The Armed Forces, according to the Ministry, have supported the response with 475 personnel, 7 fire engines, 4 helicopters and 1 Air Tractor aircraft. For today, the deployment of 160 military personnel is also planned in the areas where the operation is continuing.
Dajt, Bardhaj and Fier among the most problematic points
On Mount Dajt, in addition to municipal structures, 77 military personnel and 1 helicopter have been deployed.
In Bardhaj, Shkodër, according to the announcement, 5 fire engines, the forestry service, civil emergency structures, as well as support from the Armed Forces with 1 fire engine and 1 helicopter, are operating. For today, the deployment has also been increased by 33 personnel and 1 ambulance.
In Fier, 13 fire engines, 4 water tankers, 55 personnel, 90 other forces and 90 military personnel have been involved, as well as 1 helicopter and 1 Air Tractor. According to the authorities, support there is also continuing with 33 personnel.
Himarë exits the operation, AKMC keeps the territory under observation
The Ministry says the operation in Himarë has been concluded after the fire was extinguished. In this action, according to the official toll, 26 fire engines, 120 personnel, 40 volunteers, 67 municipal forces, 20 police forces and 180 Armed Forces personnel with 2 helicopters were engaged.
The National Civil Protection Agency has stated that it is following the situation across the country in coordination with prefectures, municipalities and other civil protection structures. The priority, according to the institutions, remains the protection of lives, homes, property and the environment.
While the official toll gives high numbers of forces and equipment on the ground, the real test remains the neutralization of the still-active hotspots and the containment of their spread in the most exposed areas.
For the moment, the picture remains open in several points of the country, with the main focus on Dajt, Bardhaj in Shkodër and Fier.
