An incident reported by Socialist MP Iris Luarasi herself has heightened tensions outside the entrance to Parliament. In a video message, she said she was confronted with insults and abuse from several young women who, according to her, accused her of not defending women.
Accusations of insults and verbal confrontation
According to Luarasi’s statement, the incident happened as she was entering Parliament. The MP said several protesters had been waiting for her with insults, abuse and phones ready to film her reaction.
She presented the episode as an act of public humiliation rather than ordinary political criticism, saying she felt hurt by the fact that, in her account, the verbal attack came from young women in the name of defending women.

In her public message, Luarasi said she was called a “thief” and insisted that she does not accept having her name, work and integrity called into question.
She also said she was accused of not defending women, while describing it as contradictory that this accusation, according to her version, was accompanied by verbal violence against a woman.
