A powerful explosion in the Brryl area of Tirana left three employees injured at a fuel station, while the version given by the fire brigade director also raises questions about technical conditions and safety at the business premises.
Firefighters’ version of the incident
The director of the Tirana Fire Brigade, Shkëlqim Goxhaj, said that a gas leak had initially been detected at the fuel facility and that the intervention by firefighters had made it possible to shut it off.
According to him, the explosion did not occur at the facility, but later in the business offices, shifting attention to the specific circumstances in which the incident happened.
Three injured and damage from the explosion
Three employees were injured in the explosion. The force of the blast also caused structural collapses, which according to the official version came as a direct result of the gas explosion.
The incident has revived concerns over safety standards in such activities, especially when it comes to fuel facilities and high-risk workplaces.

According to Goxhaj, investigations will be carried out to determine whether there were technical defects at the fuel station or in the relevant systems.
