The State Technical and Industrial Inspectorate has presented a preliminary version of the incident in the Brryli area of Tirana, ruling out at this stage the claim that the fuel tanks exploded. According to the institution, the initial suspicions are linked to a vehicle that was inside the fuel station’s premises.
SITI’s preliminary version of the incident
According to the preliminary assessment by SITI’s inspection team, at the retail sales point “Skënderi G” sh.p.k., in the Brryli area, there was no explosion of the fuel tanks.
The institution says the inspection team was at the scene and carried out the first checks into the circumstances of the incident.
Suspicion shifts to a vehicle
According to the preliminary information made public by SITI, the fire is suspected to have started from a vehicle that was inside the territory of the fuel station.
The same official version says the incident was also accompanied by an explosion, but at this stage without linking it to the fuel tanks.
What remains unclear
Despite the preliminary statement, the full causes of the incident have not yet been determined. So far, these are suspicions and not a final technical conclusion.
This still leaves room for questions over the exact chain of events, the way the fire started, and the circumstances that led to the explosion reported at the scene.
Checks continue
SITI says the inspection team is continuing its checks to fully determine the causes and circumstances of the incident.
Until those checks are completed, the version published by the institution remains a preliminary assessment.
The incident in Brryli remains under technical verification, while so far the responsible institution has ruled out only one element: the explosion of the fuel tanks.
For the rest, the official answers remain partial.
