The incident took place in Neighborhood No. 6 and, according to the same sources, the officer was not on duty when he became involved in the conflict.

The police’s official statement
The State Police announced that two 18-year-olds with the initials D. B. and A. M. have been criminally investigated while remaining free.
According to police, following a momentary conflict in Neighborhood No. 6 in Durrës, the two jointly punched citizen D. H., 25, causing him physical injuries.
A police officer, but not on duty
Police sources said that the 25-year-old, D. Hallaçi, is a police employee.
However, according to this version, he was not on duty at the moment he became involved in the conflict with the two 18-year-olds, placing the incident outside the context of an official police intervention.
The family connection that makes the case sensitive
One of those under investigation is reported to be the son of Elisabeta Mataj, the former director of the Post branch in Durrës.
This detail places the incident in a more sensitive public context because of the criminal case that has for months weighed on the former Albanian Post official.
The open case against Elisabeta Mataj
Mataj is accused of misappropriating thousands of euros from Albanian Post’s Durrës branch and is under the security measure of house arrest.
Earlier, she had been held in pretrial detention since July 18, under investigation on suspicion of theft in collaboration, through abuse of office, of 69 million lek. According to the investigation, these were funds intended for citizens at Post branches in Shijak and Krujë.
As for the incident in Durrës, so far the only public version remains that of the police, while no other details have been made known about the specific circumstances of the conflict.
The proceedings have been registered with both 18-year-olds remaining free.
