A new name in an effort to unblock the process

According to Kurti’s statements during the latest developments in the Assembly, the new name put on the table for president is Justina Shiroka Pula.

The new move comes as the process has remained blocked and the political camps are trying to shift the cost of failure onto the other side. In this climate, the proposed candidacy is seen as part of an open negotiation, not as a consolidated solution.

Direct call to Bedri Hamza

Kurti has asked PDK chairman Bedri Hamza to come out publicly and confirm the participation of all the party’s deputies in the voting process.

In the version presented by him, responsibility for unblocking the situation passes to the PDK. He has insisted that Hamza convince the parliamentary group to support the new candidacy.

A conditional political offer

According to Kurti, Vetevendosje is ready to give prior support even for a law proposed within the framework of a political agreement.

In return, he is asking for the vote on the candidacy for president. The formula shows that the process is moving more on the logic of political exchange than on clear institutional consensus.

Why Justina Shiroka Pula is considered a sensitive name

Justina Shiroka Pula has previously held important political posts. She was a former deputy chairwoman of the PDK and a former minister in one of the governments led by that party.

Kurti himself has presented this profile as an argument to increase pressure on the PDK, describing her as a figure close to that political force. In essence, his message is that a refusal would make it harder for the PDK to politically justify itself before the public.

The crisis remains open

The third proposal comes at a tense political moment in Kosovo, where the election of the president remains blocked.

Beyond new names and public appeals, it remains unclear whether this move will actually produce the necessary majority or whether it is another attempt to control the political narrative amid protests and growing pressure.

So far, Kurti’s move adds weight to the political debate, but not necessarily certainty over the votes.

Whether the PDK will accept this formula or read it as a pressure tactic remains the point that will determine whether the institutional deadlock is broken or merely pushed further down the road.
