Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted on social network X to the third anniversary of October 7 in Israel, with a message in which, according to its public version, he expresses solidarity with the families of the victims and with the survivors. In the same post, he also returns to the reference to “Besa,” an element the government often uses in diplomatic communication to connect Albanian history with the protection of Jews during the Holocaust.

Rama’s message for the anniversary

In the post published on X, Rama writes that three years have passed since the “horror of October 7,” but that for the families of the victims and for the survivors, that morning “has never truly ended.”

He expresses condolences to the grieving families and refers to the attack in strong language against Hamas, while emphasizing the invisible wounds that, according to him, survivors continue to carry.

Visit to Nova and the symbolism of remembrance

Rama also recalls his visit to Nova earlier this year, presenting it as a place where “silence speaks louder than words.”

According to the message he published, young people from different countries had gathered there to celebrate life before, in the prime minister’s wording, it was snatched away from them by the “darkness of hatred and terror.”

“Besa” at the center of political communication

In the same reaction, the head of government places “Besa” at the center, defining it as an Albanian moral code and as a promise that is never broken.

He recalls the history of Albanians who sheltered Jews during the Holocaust, a reference regularly used by Albanian officials in messages carrying international weight, especially when the aim is to underline the country’s moral profile in relation to antisemitism and historical memory.

Call against indifference and antisemitism

At the end of the message, Rama calls for memory not to be surrendered to indifference, for grief not to remain alone, and for antisemitism not to hide behind silence, slogans, or justifications.

His post closes with a message to the families of the victims, in which he wishes that the memory of their loved ones remains an eternal blessing.

The prime minister’s reaction comes on a date carrying high symbolic weight for Israel and for the international debate over memory, terrorism, and the way political leaders choose to articulate public solidarity.

The message published by Rama places the emphasis on historical memory and moral positioning, using language that goes beyond formal diplomatic condolences.
