The protest outside the Ministry of Education has entered its sixth day, with students and other citizens taking part, while confrontational tones with the Police have once again appeared on the ground. Sunday’s gathering began with protesters assembling and calling for the prime minister’s resignation, shifting the focus beyond narrow academic demands.

Sixth day of protest at the Education Ministry, anti-Rama chants and tension in front of police

The gathering resumes for a sixth day

From the early hours near the Ministry of Education, young people could be seen gathered in protest, some wearing masks and some without, while holding national flags and chanting against the government.

The fact that the protest has continued for six consecutive days shows that the discontent has not subsided, despite the increased presence of law enforcement forces and official messages calling for calm.

From songs and dancing to facing the uniforms

At the start of the gathering, a scene different from previous days appeared: several young people sang and danced in the middle of the road, facing Police officers.

But the festive atmosphere did not last long. The police presence and the tension built up over previous days kept the protest in a fragile balance, where any movement could push the situation toward escalation.

Calls against violence from both sides

One of the protesters called on fellow demonstrators not to use violence against Police officers, while also asking the uniformed officers not to use violence against protesters.

This appeal highlighted the mutual distrust that accompanies such protests, where physical confrontation remains a present risk even when the gathering begins without incident.

He tears up the certificate given by Besa Shahini

In a symbolic gesture of revolt, the same protester tore up the certificate that had been given to him by former Education Minister Besa Shahini as the winner of the History Olympiad.

The act was read as a sign of rejection of institutional representation and of the way some young people see their relationship with the state and the education system.

At this stage, the protest is maintaining a combination of civic symbolism and growing nervousness on the ground.

It remains to be seen whether the institutions will provide a political response to the demands and anger expressed in the streets, or whether they will continue to manage the situation mainly through a police presence.
