A serious incident that took place in the early hours of November 5 in Elbasan has seen a new development: according to police, one suspect has been identified and three other people have been declared wanted over the placement of an explosive device on the car of an employee of the Municipality of Elbasan. The official version describes it as an organized act carried out in cooperation, while the motives remain unclear.
What happened in the “28 Nëntori” neighborhood
The incident was recorded at around 02:00 in the “28 Nëntori” neighborhood of Elbasan. According to police, a quantity of explosive material detonated near one of the front tires of a “Volkswagen” vehicle owned by citizen A.D.
As a result of the explosion, the vehicle was engulfed in flames. The fire, according to official information, also damaged another vehicle, a “Benz,” parked nearby.
Police: one detained, three others wanted
Elbasan police announced that, following the investigation carried out and the review of video footage, they were able to detain citizen E.T., 43, a resident of Durrës. According to the official version, he is suspected of having secured the vehicle used to carry out the incident.
Declared wanted are O.E., 36, and M.A., 33, both residents of Elbasan, as well as B.N., 17, a resident of Durrës. Police claim they acted in cooperation in organizing and carrying out the placement of the explosive device.
Operation “Porosia” and the questions that remain
According to police, the detention was carried out as part of the coded operation “Porosia,” conducted by crime investigation specialists at the Elbasan Police Commissariat, in cooperation with the structures of the Durrës Local Police Directorate.
However, the official statement provides no clarification on the suspected motive for the attack on the municipality employee, nor on the specific role each of the individuals involved is suspected of having played in the criminal episode. These are essential elements for understanding whether this was a personal conflict, pressure, or another motive.
Criminal investigation and charges filed
In cooperation with the prosecution, actions are continuing to capture the wanted individuals and to identify other possible persons involved in this incident.
The procedural materials will be referred to the Prosecution at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Elbasan for the criminal offenses of “Destruction of property with explosives,” committed in cooperation, and “Unauthorized possession and manufacture of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition.”
At this stage, most of the case is based on the police version and on the suspicions raised in the investigation.
Beyond the announcement of the detention and the manhunt, it remains to be seen what evidence will be presented to support the claim that the attack was organized by several people acting together.
