After Saturday’s protest in Tirana, the balance sheet made public by police shows 12 people escorted to police stations and 10 others fined. The measures come after tensions reported during the gathering, in another case where the authorities’ response is initially presented through the official version.

Police tally after the protest
According to police, 12 people were escorted after the protest held a day earlier in Tirana, while 10 others were penalized with fines for obstructing public order.
At this stage, the authorities have made public only the number of escorted individuals and administrative measures, without additional details on the identities of those involved or the specific circumstances of each case.
Where tensions were recorded
The strongest clashes were reported near the Ministry of Education and in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, two points where the protest took a more tense turn.
According to the official version, during these episodes protesters used fireworks, Molotov cocktails and stones.
Police response on the ground
In the same areas, police intervened with water cannons to disperse the crowd and bring the situation under control.
It remains to be seen whether there will be further proceedings or fuller clarification on the proportionality of the intervention and the basis for the measures taken against those escorted and fined.
The incident once again highlights the way protests are managed in the capital, where official tallies are published quickly, while full explanations about the intervention and responsibilities often remain partial.
