Two citizens of North Macedonia have been declared “non grata” by the Interior Ministry, in a decision that comes, according to the official version, because of suspicions of activity harmful to the Albanian state. So far, institutions have not provided detailed information on the nature of these suspicions.
Interior Ministry decision
According to information confirmed by the Interior Ministry, those declared undesirable are Valon Beljan, or Valjon Bela, and Bekir Halimi, both citizens of North Macedonia.
The decision was presented as a measure taken against individuals for whom, according to the institutions, there is information indicating suspicious activity against the Albanian state.
The proposal came from the anti-terror unit
According to the same information, the measure was taken following a proposal from the anti-terror unit of the State Police.
This means the initiative was not presented as an isolated administrative decision, but as an action supported by security structures. However, no concrete elements have been made public that would allow independent verification of the claims.
Little transparency on the reasons
At this stage, the authorities have spoken only of “suspicious activity” and “information” harmful to the Albanian state, without clarifying what activities are involved.
The lack of details leaves open the question of whether this is an assessment based on operational information, preventive measures, or other circumstances that have not yet been made public by the institutions.
The “non grata” declaration remains a measure with political and security weight, but in this case the public has received only the institutions’ summarized version.
