A 32-year-old Turkish woman, identified as Julide Yazici, is appearing this Thursday before the Criminal Chamber Court in Tirana after being arrested in Albania for extradition purposes. According to the official version, she was convicted in Turkey for links to a terrorist organization and had been declared wanted by Interpol Ankara.

Yazici was detained at Rinas Airport while traveling from France to Albania. During checks at the border crossing point, authorities found that the 32-year-old was internationally wanted.

The arrest was carried out on behalf of the Turkish state and is linked to extradition procedures, which are now under review by the Albanian court.

What Turkish authorities allege

According to the data presented by the authorities, the 32-year-old is suspected of providing logistical assistance to a terrorist organization and of participation in a terrorist organization.

In the file referred to the court, she is listed as having been sentenced to four years in prison in her home country. According to the same data, she still has 3 years, 5 months and 22 days left to serve.

The case enters judicial review

Her appearance before the Criminal Court in Tirana is linked to the procedure that verifies the conditions of the arrest and the next steps for extradition.

At this stage, the claims coming from the Turkish side remain part of the extradition request file, while the decision on whether the procedure will continue belongs to Albanian justice institutions.
