The Port of Durrës handled a high volume of traffic in the first seven months of 2026. Official data show that 349,423 passengers passed through the Ferry Terminal, while July was the busiest month of the season.

More than 349,000 movements in seven months
According to official figures for the January-July 2026 period, a total of 349,423 passengers traveled through the Ferry Terminal at the Port of Durrës.
Of that total, around 160,000 passengers departed from Durrës to other ports, while nearly 190,000 entered Albania through the same terminal.
July carried the main weight of the season
The month of July marked the peak of movements during this period, with a total of 112,740 passengers processed.
Of these, 83,315 people arrived in Albania, while more than 29,000 others traveled from Durrës to destinations outside the country.
Slight increase compared with a year earlier
Compared with July 2025, when 111,049 passengers were recorded at the Port of Durrës, this year the figure is around 1,700 higher.
In percentage terms, this amounts to a modest increase of about 1.5%, showing that summer traffic remains high, but without strong expansion compared with a year earlier.
The summer season and routes with Italy
According to the official version, the increase in movements in July is linked to the tourist season, the return of emigrants, and tourists choosing Albania for their holidays.
Along the same lines, sailings with increased frequency to and from Italian ports have also been reported, with more frequent round trips and higher capacity for passenger transport during the summer.
The figures confirm that the Port of Durrës remains the country’s main point for maritime passenger arrivals and departures, especially in the summer months.
However, beyond the high total number of movements, the annual increase reported for July remains limited and leaves room for a more cautious reading of the success presented by the authorities.
