Investigations into the attack on 50-year-old Thimjo Rubati in Sarandë are pursuing several leads, while according to sources close to the investigative team, a possible link to the assault on officer Mihal Velço, an incident reported a day earlier, is also being verified. So far, the perpetrators have not been identified, and the official version remains at the stage of suspicion.
One investigative lead is tied to the previous day’s incident
According to information emerging from the investigation, one of the leads being examined by the authorities is a possible connection between the attack on Rubati and the assault on officer Mihal Velço.
At this stage, there is no official confirmation of the motive for the attack, while investigators are working to understand whether the two incidents are genuinely connected or whether this is only a preliminary lead.
Perpetrators suspected of fleeing toward the beach area
According to the version being verified by the investigative team, the perpetrators were masked and wearing helmets at the time of the attack.
After the incident, they are suspected of having fled toward the beach area, where “Mithat Hoxha” road ends. Another suspicion investigators are examining is that they may then have escaped by speedboat.
Checks continued through the night, but no perpetrators identified
Police continued checks throughout the night, while according to sources, searches are still ongoing to identify and capture the suspected individuals.
Despite the operations on the ground, no concrete result regarding the perpetrators has been made public so far, leaving open questions about the dynamics of the incident and security in the area.
The injured man was taken to Ioannina for more specialized treatment
Thimjo Rubati, 50, initially received first aid at the hospital in Sarandë, where according to sources he was also given blood.
He was then transported to the hospital in Ioannina for more specialized treatment. According to data from the investigation, the injured man was conscious after the attack, but said he was unable to recognize the people who shot him.
Police say investigations are continuing to fully clarify the circumstances and determine the motive for the attack.
For the moment, however, the case remains based on investigative leads and suspicions, while the main answers about the perpetrators and the cause of the attack are still lacking.
