Footage of the 24-year-old woman’s release

The video shows a police officer approaching the young woman and carrying her in his arms as she gets out of the vehicle. According to published information, the intervention was carried out while the area was also being kept under control by RENEA snipers.

Rozalinda Plaka gets out of the car barefoot, while the 35-year-old man, who was still inside the vehicle, throws her sneakers out from inside. The young woman is reported to have been released without physical injuries after several hours of pursuit and negotiations.

How the family crime happened

The incident began at around 5:00 a.m. on Thursday, when the 35-year-old is suspected of entering the Plaka family home with a hunting rifle. At the time, the couple Kosta, also known as Arben Plaka, and Belerie Plaka were getting ready to leave for work.

According to reported information, he opened fire immediately after entering the home. Kosta Plaka died at the scene, while Belerie Plaka was seriously wounded and was urgently taken to the Fier Regional Hospital.

The 24-year-old woman’s mother did not survive her injuries

Belerie Plaka underwent surgery that lasted more than five hours, but she did not survive. The death toll from the incident thus rose to two victims within the same family.

The case once again raises serious questions about the preventive response of institutions in cases involving known conflicts or violent relationships, although so far the authorities have not made public any further information about any previous report.

The hostage-taking and the end of the operation

After the crime, the 35-year-old forcibly took the 24-year-old woman, with whom he is reported to have had a relationship for nine years, and left through the back of the house. He then headed toward the village of Kurjan, where police pursued him for several hours.

According to police, negotiations for his surrender lasted about seven hours. In the end, after releasing the 24-year-old woman, he refused to surrender and ended his life by suicide.

The incident has shocked Fier not only because of the brutality of the crime, but also because the hostage-taking lasted for hours before the operation was brought to an end.

So far, authorities have provided a chronological version of what happened, while questions remain without full answers about the circumstances that led the incident to this fatal escalation.
