A tourist boat has been hit with a heavy fine in Vlora after police claim it was sailing with music above permitted levels shortly after midnight, causing disturbance in the coastal area.
Intervention after complaints in the Uji i Ftohtë area
According to the official version, the intervention came after complaints from residents about noise in the Uji i Ftohtë area, in the direction of the Lungomare.
Police say that at around 00:52 they identified a tourist boat sailing toward the Port of Vlora with loud music, in violation of public peace.
Criminal proceedings for the administrator and captain
After procedural actions, criminal proceedings were launched against the boat’s administrator, D. S., 22, a resident of Vlora, and captain V. P., 39, a resident of Lezha, for the offense of “Disturbing the public peace.”
The case once again raises questions about the real level of oversight of tourist activity at sea, especially during hours when disturbances for residents and vacationers are most sensitive.
Audio equipment seized, administrative measure also imposed
Police said that an amplifier and two audio speakers were seized as material evidence.
In addition to the criminal proceedings, the entity was also given an administrative measure worth 400,000 new lek, or 4 million old lek.
Increased checks during the summer season
According to police, checks have been increased along the coastline as part of measures for order and peace during the tourist season.
Authorities claim the aim is to curb noise pollution and disturbances for vacationers during a period when tourist activity in Vlora intensifies significantly.
The official statement presents the case as part of seasonal operations against noise and violations in tourist areas.
It remains to be seen whether these checks will be enforced to the same standard for all operators active along the coast.
