A fire was reported on Saturday afternoon in the village of Dëllënjë, in the Novoselë Administrative Unit of Vlora, putting areas of orchards and olive groves at risk. In hot weather and strong winds, intervention on the ground is proving difficult.

The flames engulfed the area during the afternoon, while two fire engines and eight firefighters have been deployed on the ground to isolate and extinguish the fire.
The situation remains complicated due to high temperatures and wind, factors which, according to the fire service’s account, are favoring the spread of the flames.
Risk to olive groves and orchards
According to data from the fire service, the blaze is threatening areas of orchards and olive groves, increasing the potential damage in an agricultural area.
At this stage, homes do not appear to be at risk, as they are located far from the seat of the fire.
Forces on the ground are trying to isolate it
Firefighters are continuing their work to bring the situation under control, while weather conditions are making the operation more difficult than usual.
For the moment, there are no reports of injuries, while the focus remains on stopping the advance of the flames toward cultivated areas.
Fires at the height of the summer season are once again drawing attention to the exposure of rural areas to risk, especially when intervention is faced with strong wind and extreme temperatures.
In Novoselë, the extent of the damage will depend on the pace at which the flames spread and on the effectiveness of the response on the ground.
