A 52-year-old man was injured in Kherson after, according to Ukrainian authorities, a Russian drone followed him around his van at a market and then exploded near the vehicle. The case is being presented by the Ukrainian side as another episode in which civilians, rather than military positions, are suspected to have been targeted.

Footage is claimed to show the pursuit before the explosion
According to the official account from Ukrainian authorities, the released footage shows the 52-year-old vendor moving around the van and trying to take cover while an FPV drone hovers above him.
After several movements around the vehicle, the drone strikes near the van and the explosion follows immediately. The man survived, but suffered blast injuries, wounds from metal fragments, and head trauma.
Ukrainian police: he was not involved in military activity
Ukrainian police said the injured man was not involved in any military activity, but was a citizen selling goods at the market.
In this context, authorities in Ukraine described the incident as a deliberate attack on civilians, a serious allegation that comes in a climate where independent verification on the ground remains difficult.
Kyiv calls for international investigation
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Andrii Sybiha, described the attack in Kherson as a suspected war crime and called for an international investigation.
Kyiv’s statement increases pressure for the documentation of attacks allegedly targeting civilians, as the war continues to produce serious accusations and ongoing humanitarian consequences.
Other reports of civilian casualties in Sumy
According to Ukrainian authorities, Russian attacks have also caused civilian casualties in the Sumy region.
In another attack reported by the Ukrainian side, two children and an elderly woman were killed, adding to the heavy toll of strikes on populated areas.
The incident in Kherson comes at a time when every such episode is being accompanied by demands for international accountability and intense debate over the protection of civilians in war zones.
So far, the accusations over the attack are based on statements by Ukrainian authorities and on footage released by them.
