The Vlora Airport project, long presented as one of the country’s important infrastructure works, has entered a new phase following problems with implementation. According to the official version, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy has begun procedures to cancel the concession contract, linking this step to the failure to meet deadlines for the airport’s construction.

The start of procedures to cancel the concession has been confirmed by sources cited in media reporting, while the reason presented by the institution is the failure to fulfill the contract in terms of work deadlines.
This development puts into question the progress of a project that had been presented as a strategic investment, but which is now facing the consequences of delays and clashes between the parties involved.
The warning had come earlier
Earlier, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy had issued an ultimatum to the contracting companies to complete the works and make up for the delays.
