What Thai authorities are reporting

According to police, the suspected attacker killed his grandparents at their home and took the weapon registered in his grandfather’s name, who was reportedly a former teacher. He then headed to a school on the outskirts of Bangkok, where he opened fire.

Authorities claim that 26 rounds were fired during the attack, while another 34 rounds were found at the scene. So far, police have not provided a full explanation of how the attacker moved while armed to the school premises.

The death toll was corrected

The deputy interior minister confirmed that five teachers lost their lives in the attack, correcting the preliminary toll that had put the number of victims at six.

This change in the official data shows that the first information released after the incident was unstable, while authorities continue to update the figures.

22 injured, 9 in critical condition

According to the Health Ministry, 22 people were injured in the attack, while 9 of them are in critical condition.

Not all of the injured were shot. Some of them, according to authorities, were hurt while trying to flee the scene, showing the panic caused inside the school.

The motive remains unclear

Thai police say the motive for the attack remains under investigation. Police spokesman Trairong Phiwphan said the weapon used is believed to have been taken from a member of the suspect’s family.

So far, no explanation has been made public for the reasons behind the attack, while the investigation remains open to fully clarify the incident.

The incident has raised serious questions about school security and how a weapon registered to a family ended up in the hands of a student.

Beyond the tragic toll, the case is being treated as one of the most serious episodes of armed violence reported recently in Thailand.
