The fire that broke out in Priskë e Madhe has been contained, according to official announcements, but the situation is not considered over. Work is continuing on the ground to fully extinguish the flames and prevent reactivation, while another fire on Mount Dajti remains problematic and is causing damage in a protected area.
Priska, Lundra, Gurra e Madhe and Farka under monitoring
According to official information, the situation has been brought under control at the fire hotspot that started in Priskë e Madhe and later spread to Lundra, Gurra e Madhe and Farka e Madhe.
Authorities say there is currently no risk to homes in the four villages involved, but the intervention is continuing precisely to prevent the flames from returning to sensitive areas.
Difficult terrain is limiting the response from the ground
Dense scrub and rugged terrain have complicated the operation in some parts of the area, making it impossible to use ground vehicles along every section of the fire line.
For this reason, the response is also being supported from the air by two helicopters, which are taking on water from Farka Lake, near the areas affected by the fire.
Firefighters, the municipality and civil emergencies on the ground
Two firefighting teams, municipal workers and civil emergency structures have also been engaged in the operation.
The fact that ground and air forces are being used simultaneously shows that, although the Priskë hotspot is reported as contained, the risk of reactivation is not considered excluded.
In Dajt, the fire is spreading in the National Park area
More concerning is the situation on Mount Dajti, where other aerial forces have been concentrated in the mountainous area after the flames spread in Qafë Mollë.
According to official data, the fire has also crossed to the other side of the mountain, visible from the city of Tirana. Although no risk to homes has been reported, the damage in the Dajti area remains serious, all the more so because it is a space declared a National Park.
Beyond the formula that the situation is “under control,” developments in Dajt show that pressure on the terrain continues and that the environmental consequences are deepening.
Under these conditions, attention remains on the effectiveness of the intervention and on how the fire hotspots are being managed in one of the most sensitive areas near Tirana.
