The fire situation remains tense in several areas of the country, although the official version speaks of “normalization” in some of the fire hotspots. According to the Ministry of Defense, 35 fire outbreaks have been reported in the last 24 hours, while 8 of them remain active.
More than 500 personnel on the ground, interventions also from the air
According to data made public by the Ministry of Defense, 533 operational personnel and 39 firefighting vehicles have been engaged in operations to deal with the situation.
Support has also included 186 members of the Armed Forces, 4 helicopters and 2 Air Tractor aircraft. Currently, according to the official report, 120 Armed Forces personnel, 2 helicopters and 2 Air Tractor aircraft continue to operate in the field.
Dajti remains one of the most sensitive areas
In Dajt, the operation to extinguish the fire in the area above the Qafë-Molla tunnels is continuing. The operation there is being carried out with the support of 50 Armed Forces personnel and 2 helicopters.
For the area of Priska, Farka and surrounding spaces, authorities say the intervention of 30 Fire Protection and Rescue Service personnel with 6 vehicles has made it possible to bring the fire under control. The official version adds that no risk is reported for inhabited areas.
Kruja and Dibra, operations still open
Work is continuing in Kruja on the fire hotspots in Abazes and Zidoll. According to the authorities, ground interventions, also supported from the air during the previous day, have helped improve the situation.
In Zidoll, the focus remains on isolating and fully extinguishing the fire. Here too, institutions declare that there is no risk to inhabited areas.
One of the most important operations is continuing in Gurë-Lurë, in Dibra, where opening corridors with vehicles and personnel has prevented the advance of the flames toward homes. During today, the operation is being supported by 50 Armed Forces personnel, 2 Air Tractor aircraft and 1 water tanker.
Bulqiza, Lezha, Elbasan and Shkodra still have active hotspots
At Qafë Helmes, on the Bulqizë-Selishtë road, the operation is continuing with the support of 20 Armed Forces personnel. For this area as well, the official report says there is no risk to homes.
Work to isolate and extinguish the remaining hotspots is also continuing in Lezha, Elbasan and Shkodra, specifically in Lufaj, Dardhë and the forests of Tërbuni.
On the other hand, authorities report that the hotspots in Përmet, Trojë, Qukës and Paulesh have been fully extinguished.
The balance of the last 24 hours shows a wide spread of fires in several counties, despite optimistic announcements from institutions for certain parts of the territory.
With 8 hotspots still active, the real test remains the full isolation of the fires and preventing their spread near inhabited areas.
