A hotel on Vlora’s Lungomare was engulfed by flames in an incident that left at least seven people injured or suffering from smoke inhalation and transported for medical assistance. According to preliminary information, three of them were taken to Tirana for more specialized treatment.
The flames started in the bar on the first floor
According to preliminary data, the fire initially broke out in the bar located on the first floor of the building. The flames then spread to the second floor, where the hotel was located.
The spread from a service area to the accommodation section raises questions that are expected to be clarified by technical inspections and the authorities’ investigation.
Seven people received medical assistance
As a result of the incident, seven people were taken to hospital to receive medical assistance. At this stage, no further details have been given about their health condition.
Three of the injured were transported to Tirana, as they needed more specialized care.
Police and firefighters intervened at the scene
Police forces and the fire service arrived in the area and, according to the official version, managed to bring the flames under control.
The intervention prevented the fire from spreading further, while the first procedural actions are also being carried out at the scene.
Investigation launched into the cause of the fire
Authorities have launched an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the incident and determine the cause of the fire.
At this stage, there is still no official explanation for the cause of the blaze or for the safety conditions at the facility.
The incident in one of Vlora’s busiest areas brings renewed attention to the issue of safety standards in hotel structures and service premises.
For now, the reported toll remains seven people in hospital, including three sent to Tirana.
