A massive fire in the village of Gojan i Madh, in the Gjegjan Administrative Unit, has led to an order for the immediate evacuation of residents. According to Pukë Municipality, the situation has been deemed critical and poses a direct risk to life and property.
Order for immediate departure
The decision was signed by Pukë Mayor Rrok Dodaj and took effect immediately. The official version bases this measure on the situation created by the spread of the flames across the territory of the village of Gojan i Madh.
The notice states that the evacuation is being carried out in implementation of the law on civil protection, the national civil emergencies plan and the local plan of Pukë Municipality.
Who has priority in the evacuation
According to local structures, priority in leaving the area will be given to children, the elderly, people with chronic illnesses, people with disabilities, and families located in isolated areas or at high risk from the flames.
The notice indicates that the risk on the ground is high enough to require the immediate movement of residents, while communication for assistance has been directed to public authorities and the civil emergencies headquarters.
Where residents will be sheltered
Evacuees will be accommodated at the “Ali Bytyçi” Dormitory in Pukë, where, according to the municipality, facilities have been prepared for shelter, food and medical service.
According to the notice, upon arrival a full registration of families will be carried out, after which basic needs will be provided, including food, clothing, hygiene and medical assistance.
Institutions involved in the operation
The evacuation process is expected to be carried out in coordination with the National Civil Protection Agency, the Prefecture of Shkodër County, the civil emergency structures of Pukë Municipality, the State Police and firefighting services.
Transport, according to the published plan, will be provided by Pukë Municipality, the fire protection and rescue service, and the State Police, while the involvement of the Armed Forces is also envisaged if additional support is required. The Albanian Red Cross, together with partner humanitarian aid organizations, has also been mentioned in the management of shelter.
Local authorities have said that residents will receive periodic information on the development of the fire and on the conditions for returning to their homes.
So far, the public notice has focused on evacuation and shelter measures, while the key issue remains how quickly and effectively the advance of the flames on the ground is being confronted.
