The preliminary toll stands at at least two injured, while the official version describes the events as organized attempts to stir unrest.

More than 50 arson attacks hit southern Thailand, two injured

Multiple strikes across three southern provinces

According to the Thai military, the attacks were recorded on Saturday evening, from 8:00 p.m. until around midnight, in the border provinces of Narathiwat, Yala and Pattani.

Most of the incidents were reported in Narathiwat, while other episodes were also recorded in the two neighboring provinces. The spread of the attacks across several locations within a few hours has raised suspicions of a coordinated operation.

Two women injured in blast in Muang

In Muang district, in Narathiwat, two women were injured after a bomb exploded. So far, this remains the most serious incident in terms of human impact.

In the same province, a local administration building and several vehicles were engulfed in flames, deepening the material damage in the area.

Telecommunications towers also targeted

Telecommunications towers were also among the targets of the attacks and were set on fire in several areas. The strike on communications infrastructure adds pressure on the authorities and raises questions about control of the situation on the ground.

Authorities have urged residents not to touch suspicious objects, fearing that other incendiary or explosive devices may have been left behind.

Temporary nighttime curfew

In response to the escalating situation, authorities imposed a nighttime curfew in Narathiwat. The measure was lifted on Sunday morning.

As of now, no further attacks have been reported, but the developments point to a night of high tension in the south of the country and an immediate response by state structures to contain the consequences.

The incident once again highlights the fragility of security in Thailand’s southern provinces, where even a series of attacks within a few hours is enough to paralyze local life and place institutions under pressure.

For now, the official toll remains two injured and extensive material damage.
