Bekim Sejdiu has confirmed that he is ready to take on the candidacy for president of Kosovo after his name was mentioned as one of the proposed figures following the political agreement between Albin Kurti and Lumir Abdixhiku. The move comes at a sensitive political moment, as names for the head of state are emerging from political bargaining that has still not been made fully public.
Public confirmation from Sejdiu
In his public statement, Sejdiu accepted his readiness to enter the race for the post of president, presenting it as a service to the state and its citizens.
He said he is aware of the burden and responsibility that comes with the post of head of state, especially in Kosovo’s current political circumstances.

In the statement made public, Sejdiu said: “Being fully aware of the burden and responsibility that the post of president brings, as well as of the current political context of the Republic of Kosovo, I have placed myself at the service of Kosovo, its citizens and our state, to serve with devotion, as I have always done wherever and whenever I have been given the opportunity within my capacities.”
His statement confirms the political acceptance of his name in a process that, at least so far, has been articulated more through agreements between leaders than through an open public debate.
His name emerged after the Kurti-Abdixhiku agreement
According to the version made public, Bekim Sejdiu was proposed after the agreement reached between Prime Minister Albin Kurti and LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku.
At this stage, no further details have been given on how this political understanding was built or on the criteria that led to the selection of Sejdiu’s name.
His candidacy now shifts attention to the way consensus is being produced for the post of president in Kosovo.
