A large fire has engulfed the Bardhaj and Myselim areas of Shkodra, bringing the flames close to homes and testing the response of local and central structures. According to official information, the spread has been fueled by strong wind and rugged terrain, making intervention more difficult.
Helicopter and several structures on the ground
A helicopter has also been deployed from the air in the operation to extinguish the fire, while firefighting forces and civil emergency structures have been engaged on the ground.
The official version speaks of a large-scale operation, involving several local and central institutions to stop the advance of the flames toward inhabited areas.
What forces have been deployed
According to the published data, six fire engines from the Municipality of Shkodra, a water tanker from the Public Services Enterprise, the Forest Service, Civil Emergency structures, and representatives of the administrative units of Rrethina and Postribë are operating on the ground.
The operation is also being supported by a fire engine from RKV 1010 unit in Vau i Dejës, in coordination with the Prefecture of Shkodra County and the National Civil Protection Agency.
15 homes protected, danger still present
According to the authorities, the intervention on the ground has made it possible to protect 15 homes, so far avoiding danger for the families in the affected area.
However, the fact that the flames came close to the houses also shows the level of danger on the ground, while fully isolating the fire hotspots remains a challenge.
The priority remains stopping the spread
The engaged forces are continuing work to isolate the active hotspots and fully extinguish the fire.
The focus remains on protecting homes and the safety of residents, while the situation in the area remains sensitive because of conditions that favor the spread of the flames.
Up to this stage, institutions have reported concentrated efforts on protecting the inhabited area and slowing the fire’s advance.
The final damage toll and the real extent of the fire remain unclear until the situation is fully neutralized.
