After 42 days of uninterrupted opposition, a group of Divjakë residents again took to the streets on Thursday evening, opposing the Socialist Party’s administrative-territorial reform project which, according to the version presented so far, merges Divjakë with Lushnje.
The protest enters its 42nd day
Although limited in turnout, the protesters have continued their public appearances for 42 consecutive days against the announced changes to the administrative map.
Their message has remained the same: opposition to merging Divjakë with Lushnje, a project that has sparked reaction in the area and that residents see as a decision made without genuine local agreement.
March through the town’s streets
On Thursday evening, the protest was accompanied by a march through the town’s streets, marking the close of the 42nd day of opposition.
The gathering followed a series of public reactions aimed at keeping political and institutional pressure on the reform project.
Former park director joins the gathering
Among the speakers was former Divjakë-Karavasta Park director Ardjan Koçi, who joined the protest after arriving from Germany.
Koçi is also known for his resignation several years ago, following claims of pressure related to his post, at a time when he opposed orders to allow construction in Divjakë Park. During his remarks, he criticized the government and local officials.
Debate over the reform remains open
The protest in Divjakë is unfolding in a climate of distrust over the way the administrative changes are being presented and pushed forward.
For residents who oppose the project, the issue is not only about boundaries on the map, but about local representation and the fear that decision-making is overriding the community.
