Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha has published images from his visit to the United States, where, according to the public announcement, he was honored in Mesquite, Texas, with the “Key to the City.” Alongside the ceremony, he also shared photographs from meetings with several figures from the Republican wing in the US.
Honor in Mesquite, Texas
According to the information made public, the recognition was presented to Berisha by Mesquite Mayor Daniel Aleman Jr.
During the ceremony, Aleman described the “Key to the City” as the highest civic honor the municipality can give to a person. According to him, the act expresses respect and trust toward Berisha, as well as the special ties between the Mesquite community and Albanians.
Photos published from meetings in the US
As part of this visit, Berisha shared on social media several photographs from meetings with figures in American politics.
In one of the published photos, he appears with Ed Martin, described as a representative of the US Department of Justice, tasked by the Trump administration with issues related to fighting the use of justice as a political weapon. Fatmir Mediu, head of Albania’s Republican Party, was also present at the meeting.
Meetings with Ken Paxton, Pete Sessions and Joe Gruters
Among the photos shared by Berisha is also a meeting with Ken Paxton, the Attorney General of Texas and a Republican candidate for the US Senate.
Another published meeting is with Congressman Pete Sessions, where Berisha again appears in the presence of Ed Martin.
Berisha also published a photograph with Joe Gruters, identified as chairman of the Republican National Committee of the United States.
The political message of the visit
Berisha has repeatedly stressed the importance of strategic relations between Albania and the United States.
The photos he shared place the emphasis on contacts with Republican figures and on the public promotion of these meetings during his stay in the US.
The visit to Texas was thus accompanied not only by a local honor ceremony, but also by public exposure of the political meetings that Berisha chose to make part of his communication.
So far, what has been made public remains limited to the photographs, the identification of the participants, and the messages shared by the PD leader himself.
