A new air route between Luxembourg and Tirana has been announced by the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha. According to his announcement on the social network X, Luxair is expected to begin direct flights from March 29, 2027.
What has been announced
According to the version made public by Hoxha, the new route will operate year-round and will have two flights a week, on Mondays and Fridays.
If the announced schedule is carried out, this will be the first regular direct air connection between Luxembourg and Albania.
The government presents it as an expansion of air links
The minister described the development as the arrival of another European airline in Albania, presenting it as positive news for ties between the two countries.
In his message, he claimed that this route will bring people, businesses and communities in Luxembourg and Albania closer together.
Previous contacts with the company
The announcement comes several months after Hoxha paid a visit to Luxair headquarters on April 21 of this year.
There, according to the information made public, he met with the company’s CEO, Gilles Feith, and the possibility of establishing direct flights on the Luxembourg-Tirana route was discussed.
The route begins after several months of waiting
Although the announcement is now being presented as an important development, the flights are not expected to begin immediately, but at the end of March 2027.
For now, the public details remain limited to the flight frequency and the launch date, while other operational or commercial elements have not been disclosed.
