In a Facebook post, the U.S. diplomatic mission in Tirana said its community paused at 8:46 a.m., the moment when 25 years ago the first plane struck the North Tower in New York.
According to the message published, the commemoration was dedicated to the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001 in New York, Virginia and Pennsylvania, including three Albanian-Americans.
Nancy VanHorn’s statement
Chargé d’Affaires Nancy VanHorn was quoted in the post with a short commemorative message.
“We remember every life lost. We honor the first responders who ran toward danger and the families who have carried this loss for a quarter century. We will never forget,” her statement shared by the embassy said.
