The 125th day of protest against the government was marked by demonstrators gathering in Skanderbeg Square and marching toward the Prime Minister’s Office, where political chants against Edi Rama and his cabinet were repeated.
March from Skanderbeg Square toward the Prime Minister’s Office
Protesters initially gathered in central Tirana, in Skanderbeg Square, before continuing with a march toward the Prime Minister’s Office building.
Their movement toward the seat of government once again turned the protest into a direct political confrontation with the executive.
Calls against the government and the prime minister
During the march, chants were heard against the government and Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Among the slogans voiced by participants were “Albania is not for sale, the government is for sale” and “Down with Edi Rama,” making clear the political focus of the gathering.
The gathering concentrated in front of the government headquarters
After arriving in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, protesters gathered opposite the building and continued the rally there.
At this stage of the protest, speeches are being delivered by activists, while participants have remained focused on their political demands.
Political accusations of corruption and calls for resignation
Protesters accuse the government of involvement in corrupt and criminal affairs, accusations that remain part of the positions articulated by the organizers and participants in the rally.
At the core of the protest is the demand for the departure of Prime Minister Edi Rama and his government, a message being repeated on the 125th day of the mobilization as well.
The protest is continuing in front of the Prime Minister’s Office.
