Heavy Traffic on Elbasan-Tirana Road as Weekend Return Chokes Bradashesh

The Elbasan-Tirana road axis faced heavy traffic for several hours, with long lines of vehicles and extremely slow movement, especially in the Bradashesh area. The return of citizens to Tirana after the weekend once again exposed the chronic strain on this road corridor.

Heavy traffic on the Elbasan-Tirana road as the weekend return chokes Bradashesh

Bradashesh, the point where the blockage was concentrated

The most difficult situation was reported near the Bradashesh roundabout, where the axis toward Tirana also connects. In this segment, vehicles formed long queues in both directions, while traffic at times approached paralysis.

At the entry and exit points linked to the Elbasan-Tirana axis, movement proceeded at a very slow pace, and prolonged stops were recorded at some points.

High volume after the weekend

According to reports from the ground, the congestion increased because of the mass return of citizens to the capital after spending the weekend in the tourist areas of the southeast and on the Adriatic coast.

This volume burdened all routes linking Elbasan with Tirana, creating visible difficulties for drivers and considerable delays in movement.

Police on the ground, but capacity remains limited

Traffic Police are on the ground managing traffic on the problematic segments. According to the official version, the deployed forces are working to regulate circulation and ease movement.

However, the scale of the volume itself shows that the current capacity of the road axes is not coping with the weekend load, despite the presence of police on the ground.

A repeated problem without a sustainable solution

Traffic on this road corridor has become a recurring concern whenever there is heavy movement after the weekend or during holiday periods. The queues and delays are not an isolated episode, but a symptom of a road junction that has long been operating at the limits of its capacity.

According to forecasts based on busy weekends, the situation is expected to remain heavy throughout the evening. In the long term, the solution is tied to infrastructure interventions and the completion of projects such as the Elbasan bypass, which for years have been presented as a way to reduce pressure on the existing axis.

For drivers traveling between Elbasan and Tirana, Sunday once again brought the same scenario: long queues, a slow pace, and a road corridor that remains vulnerable to any high volume.

Beyond on-the-ground management, the situation revives the old question of delays in the infrastructure solutions long promised for this axis.
