A request for a referendum against the construction of a tower at Rinia Park has reached the CEC, but attention has not been drawn only by the object of the objection. The document filed by the initiating committee is filled with spelling errors, to the point that the word “skyscraper” itself appears distorted and almost unintelligible.

The key word in the request appears misspelled
In the text submitted to the CEC, the word “qiellgërvishtëse” does not appear as such. Instead, it is written as “gjellgevtehtese,” a form that not only turns “sky” into “dish,” but also makes the rest of the word difficult to understand.
This does not appear to be an isolated typo. From the content of the document, it emerges that the mistakes are numerous and spread across several parts of the official request.
The document was registered on October 5 with 26 signatures
The referendum request was registered with the CEC on October 5, 2026 and is accompanied by the signatures of 26 members of the initiating committee.
However, the form in which the document was presented raises strong doubts as to whether the text was carefully read and verified by all signatories before being filed with a state institution.
The absence of the letter “ë” is repeated throughout almost the entire text
One of the most visible problems in the document is the repeated absence of the letter “ë,” not only in the explanatory content, but also in the proposed referendum question.
According to the rules of Albanian spelling, the question should have been formulated: “A jeni dakord që të ndërtohet një kullë te Parku Rinia?” The fact that even such a basic formulation appears with deficiencies makes the poor level of checking before submission even more apparent.
Among the signatories are also well-known public names and Democratic Party figures
The list of 26 signatories also includes well-known public names, as well as people engaged in the structures of the Democratic Party.
Among them are Adriana Kalaja, Agron Kuliçaj, Ledio Nuraj, Bujar Vukaj, Arben Ibroja, Gazmend Sallaku, Ylli Subashi, Jamarbër Malltezi and Nikolin Çali. The presence of these names makes the question of the standard by which the request was prepared even stronger.
When errors enter an official document
When such inaccuracies appear in a document drafted to be addressed to the CEC, the problem does not remain simply one of linguistic aesthetics or a missing “ë.”
In this case, the way the request was drafted directly affects the seriousness of an initiative that aims to carry public and institutional weight. For a process that requires civic legitimacy, the form of presentation is not a secondary detail.
The debate over the tower at Rinia Park may be politically heated, but documents addressed to institutions are expected to pass at least the minimum filter of accuracy.
Otherwise, beyond the issue that is claimed to be raised, the credibility of the initiative itself ends up at the center.
