Artan Gaçi, a former PS MP and the husband of former minister Olta Xhaçka, appeared this Thursday at the Special Prosecution. His appearance at SPAK comes without any public clarification from the institutions regarding the exact purpose of his appearance, while his lawyer has acknowledged that Gaçi was questioned in the capacity of a person against whom investigations are being conducted.

Appearance at SPAK with lawyer
Gaçi arrived at the premises of the Special Prosecution accompanied by his lawyer. The presence of legal counsel at this stage makes it even clearer that this is not a routine appearance without procedural weight.
On his way out, the lawyer said that his client was questioned as a person against whom investigations are being conducted. He did not provide further details on the specific case or on the nature of the questions asked by prosecutors.
No transparency on the specific reason
So far, it has not been made public why Artan Gaçi was summoned to SPAK this time. The lack of official information leaves open questions about the subject of the investigation and the stage the procedure has reached.
In such cases, minimal communication from institutions adds to the lack of clarity, especially when it concerns a name well known politically and economically.
Gaçi’s name has been mentioned before as well
This is not the first time Gaçi has appeared at the Special Prosecution. He was previously summoned following the complaint filed by Fredi Beleri against the acting mayor of Himarë, Jorgo Goro, over the issue of land alienation in Himarë.
However, at this moment there is no public confirmation as to whether Thursday’s appearance is linked to the same case file or to another investigative matter.
The fact that the lawyer acknowledged Gaçi’s procedural status as a person against whom investigations are being conducted gives particular weight to his appearance at SPAK.
Beyond the usual formulas of reserve, it still remains unclear over which specific matter the former Socialist MP is being verified.
