A large fire that broke out between Skanderbeg Square and Kavaja Street was extinguished after nearly an hour of intervention, while footage from the area shows visible damage to public infrastructure. According to the official version, police pushed back the protesters and firefighters then brought the flames under control.

The flames were extinguished after firefighters intervened
The fire that spread in central Tirana, in the area between Skanderbeg Square and Kavaja Street, was put out after nearly an hour. Firefighters intervened at the scene, while the area was marked by tension and heavy movement by law enforcement forces.
According to the authorities, the intervention was carried out after police managed to move protesters away from the point where the flames were concentrated.
Tension shifted near the ministries
After the fire in the center was extinguished, the clash did not end there. The scene of tension shifted several hundred meters farther on, near the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of the Interior.
This development shows that the situation on the ground remained unstable even after the flames were brought under control.
Damage to public infrastructure
Footage from the area shows that material damage remained after the fire. Among the damage, road signaling infrastructure was also affected.
One of the traffic lights appears to have been torn out and destroyed, adding to the cost of the damage at one of the capital’s most sensitive junctions.
At this stage, no other public information has been released about the full extent of the damage in the area.
The incident raises fresh questions about the management of security and the protection of public spaces in central Tirana, especially when tensions escalate near key institutions.
