Elbasan returned to the center of the protest again in the evening. After the morning gathering, protesters assembled once more in the city, while large numbers of police were deployed on the ground, according to reports from the scene.
The gathering was repeated within the same day
Protesters in Elbasan gathered again in the evening hours, as they had announced earlier. The move comes after gatherings were also held during the morning in Elbasan itself, as well as in other cities across the country.
This development shows that Elbasan, unlike some of the other cities where gatherings were held earlier, continued with another public turnout within the same day.
Protests also in other cities
During the morning, protests were also reported in Shkodra, Korça and Durrës. However, in Elbasan the gathering did not remain limited to daytime, but was followed by a second assembly in the evening.
This detail sets the situation in Elbasan apart from the developments reported in the other cities, where at least up to these reports no second return of protesters during the day has been mentioned.
Police on the ground with increased presence
In Elbasan’s square, where protesters have gathered and are marching, large numbers of police officers are present, according to reporting from the scene. The heightened presence of uniformed officers indicates that authorities are treating the situation with a high level of readiness.
So far, no further public details have been given on the specific measures taken or on any incident reported during the march.
It remains to be seen how the gathering will be managed further on the ground and whether the increased police presence will be accompanied by official explanations for the reason behind this deployment.
For now, the main development remains the return of protesters in Elbasan in the evening and the visible police presence in the area where the march is taking place.
