The toll presented by the Ministry of Health for the October 13–18 protests points to 303 people injured in several cities across the country. From the University Trauma Hospital, Minister Klodiana Spahiu placed the emphasis on minors and on the need to refer to official information, at a time when public debate is also being accompanied by clashes over the narrative of the events.

Toll reported by health structures
According to figures made public by the health structures, a total of 303 injured people were reported during the protests held from October 13 to 18, 2026.
This total includes 190 police officers, 87 protesters and 26 passersby. According to the official version, the data were administered by the University Trauma Hospital, the “Mother Teresa” University Hospital Center, and the regional hospitals of Durres, Vlora and Lezha.
Message from the Trauma Hospital for minors
During the visit to the University Trauma Hospital, Spahiu called for greater attention to children and young people, presenting their protection as a shared responsibility of families, institutions and social professionals.
She called on parents, guardians, social workers and all those who work with minors to communicate with them, listen to their concerns and show increased care in tense situations.
Social services and psychologists in focus
The minister said that social services and psychologists are engaged in supporting minors who need help.
According to her, no child should remain unprotected in circumstances that could endanger their safety, while the emphasis was placed on emotional and social support on days of high public tension.
Government seeks filtering of circulating information
Part of Spahiu’s statement focused on what the government considers the spread of fake news and manipulated images or images taken out of context.
Along these lines, the minister asked citizens to verify information before sharing it and to refer to official sources, arguing that this would avoid increasing fear and tension among the public.
Thanks to emergency teams and health personnel
Spahiu expressed gratitude to the teams of the National Center for Medical Emergency and to health personnel throughout the country.
According to her, the health structures have faced an increased influx of injured people in recent days, highlighting their readiness and organization.
The toll of 303 injured remains, for now, the official picture of the consequences of the protests on the health system.
In the same appearance, the government chose to combine the injury figures with calls for care for minors and with the request that public information be filtered through official channels.
