One of the most unusual tourist trips of the year is expected to set sail on November 9 from PortMiami to the Caribbean. It is the Wonderland cruise, an adults-only event that, according to organizers, combines the luxury of a giant ship with themed parties, intimate spaces and detailed rules on consent and passenger behavior.
More than 5,800 passengers, all over 21
Wonderland will take place aboard the Wonder of the Seas, a luxury ship owned by Royal Caribbean. Organizers have confirmed the participation of 5,802 passengers, on the condition that all of them are over the age of 21.
The trip is organized by Bliss Cruise and is presented as one of the largest gatherings of the community known as the “lifestyle,” a term used for non-monogamous relationships with the consent of all partners, including couple-swapping and open relationships.
Dedicated adults-only spaces and a seven-day program
During the seven days at sea, passengers have been promised a special program with themed parties, social meetups, seminars and spaces dedicated to intimate activities.
According to the organizers, the ship’s solarium, covering around 3,250 square meters, as well as the conference center, will be adapted as special adults-only areas. The program also includes parties with specific dress codes, BDSM activities and spaces where nudism is allowed.
Consent as a basic condition, violators may be put off at the next port
Although the concept of the cruise aims for an experience without the traditional family vacation format, organizers insist that this does not mean an absence of boundaries. Their official policy places mutual consent at the center, the obligation to respect any refusal and the requirement that every activity take place only with the approval of the people involved.
Intimate activities are allowed only in private cabins or in specially designated spaces, while nudism is tolerated only in certain areas of the ship. During port stops, passengers must comply with local laws. Anyone who violates the organizers’ rules risks being removed from the cruise at the next port.
Growing demand and prices that go above $21,000
According to CNN, cruises of this kind are gaining ground and organizers are moving from smaller ships to giant tourist vessels. For Wonderland, about 87 percent of bookings come from the United States, while the rest come from Canada and other countries.
Passengers from 47 nationalities are expected on board, while more than half of the participants are in the 45 to 59 age group. Cabin prices for bookings made in December 2024 ranged from $1,630 per person for inside cabins to more than $21,000 per person for the luxury Royal Loft Suite.
Organizers present this trip as an adults-only tourism product built on respect, safety and mutual consent. But the very structure of the event shows that everything functions only under a regime of strict rules, clear boundaries and constant oversight of behavior on board.
