Three fire hotspots have broken out in the Kukës area, with the most difficult situation reported in Zapod, where mountainous terrain and wind are making intervention on the ground more difficult.
Two hotspots in Tërthore, another in Zapod
According to the reported data, two of the hotspots are located in the Tërthore Administrative Unit, while the third has appeared in the village of Zapod, in a remote mountainous area.
One of the hotspots in Tërthore has been identified in Kodër Pecë, in the village of Përbreg, just a few kilometers from the city of Kukës.

In the Kodër Pecë area, the fire appears more manageable and, according to information from the ground, seems to have been brought under control.
However, the presence of several hotspots at the same time once again raises questions about local capacities for rapid response, especially when fires spread across several points of the county.
Zapod remains the most problematic point
The situation in Zapod is more severe. The spread of the flames is being aided by the wind, while the deep mountainous terrain is further complicating intervention.
This is the area where the battle with the fire is proving most difficult, and where any delay in isolating the hotspot could worsen the situation on the ground.

Firefighting services have been deployed in the operation, supported by other employees of the Municipality of Kukës.
In Zapod, village residents have also gone out to assist the forces on the ground and are taking part in efforts to isolate the hotspot. Their involvement also shows how difficult the situation on the ground has become when institutional capacities come under pressure.
So far, no further information has been reported on damage, while the focus remains on isolating the active hotspots and preventing the further spread of the flames.
