Another claim has been thrust into the center of the property conflict in Palasë, where business interests and ownership claims have collided and, as is often the case on the coast, remain unclear to the end. Kastriot Hasko, presented as an associate of businessman Vasil Bedinaj, says he is an heir to the land and that the property was registered with the mortgage office by his mother as early as 1996.
Hasko’s claim to the property
In his statements, Hasko says it is inherited property and that the documents were prepared in 1995, while registration with the mortgage office was completed a year later. According to him, he represents all the heirs for the 37-hectare area.
Documents, complaints and a signal to SPAK
Hasko claims he has proper ownership documentation and says he is ready to present it through his lawyer. He also says he has filed complaints and that, if called by SPAK, he will appear with the documents he claims support his right to the land.
According to his version, he has not so far been threatened and has not been summoned by the special prosecution office. However, the very fact that SPAK is being mentioned shows that the matter is being handled in a climate of strong tensions and mistrust between the parties.
“No one is enjoying that property”
One of Hasko’s strongest statements is that the property, under the current conditions of the conflict, is such that “no one is enjoying it.” He insists that registration with the mortgage office provides the basis for his claim as an heir and that he will pursue the matter to the end, linking this as well to his mother’s last wish.
This is another episode highlighting how fragile property conflicts remain in high-value tourist areas, where documents, registrations and legal interpretations often produce long battles with strong economic interests.
Expropriation also seen as an option
Hasko says he would not object if the government decided to expropriate the property, as long as each party receives what it is financially owed. This suggests that, beyond the battle over title ownership, the role that institutional intervention could play in such a coveted stretch of coastline remains in the background.
In the absence of a verifiable institutional position on the documents and the final status of the property, the parties’ claims remain part of a conflict that still has more questions than answers.
For now, what is known is that strong ownership claims are colliding over 37 hectares in Palasë, while each side says it has the documents on its side.
Pending full institutional verification, the case remains further evidence that land conflicts on the coast continue to erupt where property values rise faster than legal clarity.
