Three people were stabbed in Brooklyn in an incident that took place shortly before the start of the West Indies Day parade, one of the largest public events in the area. According to police, one of the injured victims is in critical condition.
The injured and their condition
According to preliminary information provided by police, a 32-year-old man and a 23-year-old man suffered neck wounds, while a 36-year-old man was stabbed in the face.
Emergency services responded at the scene and transported all three to Kings County Hospital. Authorities said the 23-year-old and the 36-year-old are in stable condition, while the 32-year-old remains in critical condition.

The attack took place several blocks away from the J’Ouvert festival, which begins at 6 a.m. and continues until the start of the parade at 11:00.

Police said the parade will be halted at 5:30 p.m. According to NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tish, the decision is also linked to incidents last year, when six people were shot during the celebrations.

According to NYPD leadership, thousands of officers will be deployed along the parade route and in surrounding areas from Sunday night through Monday.
