Patos: Three Arrested Over Home Burglaries, Police Say Cannabis Was Also Found

Three people have been arrested in Patos, with police presenting them as suspects in several home burglaries in the area. According to the official version, suspected quantities of narcotic substances were also found during the detention and searches.

Arrests in central Patos

Police said the operation was carried out by the Fier Police Station, in cooperation with the special force “Shqiponja.” Those arrested are F. Gj., 43, resident of Gjirokastër; D. A., 31, resident of Gjirokastër; and I. I., 41, resident of Tepelenë.

According to police, the three suspects were caught in central Patos while moving in a vehicle. During a body search, one of them, F. Gj., was found with a suspected quantity of cannabis sativa, which was seized as material evidence.

Search also at a home

The actions did not stop with the vehicle and body search. According to police, the search continued at the home of citizen D. A., where another suspected quantity of cannabis sativa was found and seized.

For this part of the incident, the authorities have not made public the quantity of the substance seized or other elements that would help clarify the real weight of the accusation.

What police claim about the burglaries

From the investigations so far, police say the three people are suspected in two home burglaries that took place on August 5 and 6, in the “1 Maji” neighborhood and in the village of Dukas, Patos.

According to this version, gold jewelry, 3,500 euros and two mobile phones were taken from these homes. The three arrested are also suspected of attempting on September 9 to steal from two more homes in the village of Zharrëz.

Suspicions over other cases as well

Police link the arrested men not only to Patos, but also to other theft cases in the Fier and Gjirokastër counties. Up to this stage, full details have not been given about the other episodes mentioned by the authorities.

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Fier, for the criminal offenses of “Theft” and “Production and sale of narcotic substances.”

The case remains under investigation and the accusations raised so far are based on police suspicions and claims.

The full extent of the involvement of the three arrested people in the reported thefts is expected to become clearer as investigative procedures and prosecutorial verifications continue.
