A major asset seizure announced by the Fier Prosecutor’s Office has once again brought Kastriot Hasko into the spotlight, a name already known publicly from the land ownership conflict in Palasa between two businessmen. According to the prosecution body, the case involves more than €2.6 million, additional sums in lek and dollars, as well as a luxury “Bentley” vehicle.

What was seized and what is under investigation

According to the Fier Prosecutor’s Office statement, authorities seized €2,610,195, 1,865,076 lek, $7,515, and a 2024 “Bentley Flying Spur” with a declared purchase value of €250,000.

Hasko is under the security measure of house arrest and is being investigated for “Forgery of documents” and “Laundering of the proceeds of a criminal offense or criminal activity.” At this stage, these remain suspicions under investigation and not a final finding of guilt.

The investigation is linked to land in Seman

According to the official version, the Fier Prosecutor’s Office investigation is related to the registration of considerable areas of land in Seman through documents suspected of being forged.

This element is precisely what makes the case more sensitive, as it concerns property registration and the legitimacy of the documentation, an area in which institutions have often been questioned over oversight and verification.

The same name also surfaced in the Palasa clash

Kastriot Hasko had also become public a few weeks earlier in the conflict over land ownership in Palasa, involving businessmen Vasil Bedinaj and Luan Muça.

In that dispute, Hasko was presented as the owner and heir to an area of 37 hectares, claiming that the ownership documents had been registered by his mother in the mortgage registry in 1996. He had also stated that he had signed a contract with Bedinaj for the development of the property.

Ownership documents at the center of the conflict

The documentation for this property was one of the key points of the clash in Palasa. For the “Regina Collection Palasë” project of Bedinaj’s company, the submitted documents included a mortgage certificate in the name of Kastriot Hasko, as well as a development contract between the owner of the property and the developer.

On the other hand, Luan Muça claimed that he had bought the land where he was developing his investment and that part of the area claimed by the other side overlapped with his property. He has stated that he has been investing in the Palasa area since 2019, that he bought around 97,000 square meters of land, and that he later obtained strategic investor status for the project.

The seizure of significant sums and the link between Hasko’s name and another sensitive property dispute once again place under scrutiny the way land documents have been administered and verified in cases of high economic interest.

Beyond the prosecution’s announcement, the case again raises questions about the institutional filters that have allowed disputed property documents to circulate in areas where major business interests collide.
