The chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, made strong accusations against the government and Prime Minister Edi Rama, claiming that businessman Roni Yeffet has benefited from €45 million from the state budget and other properties through favorable decisions. His remarks also touched on the leadership of the intelligence service, with claims that, in the absence of independent public verification, remain part of the political clash.

Claims of €45 million from public money
Berisha said that Yeffet had become, “overnight,” the beneficiary of tens of millions of euros from Albanian taxpayers’ funds. According to him, companies linked to the businessman were given €45 million from the state budget, as well as state assets and properties.
In the version presented by the PD leader, these benefits were made possible through laws and government decisions. He portrayed the scheme as direct favoritism at the expense of public money.
Accusations involving SHISH and security
Part of Berisha’s statement focused on an even more sensitive issue: the alleged links between Yeffet and security structures. He said that, in the Security Commission, SHISH director Vlora Hyseni had stated that she was cohabiting with Roni Yeffet.
On this basis, Berisha claimed that the intelligence service was under “double control” and presented the situation as a problem that, according to him, affects national security and Albania’s relationship with its NATO allies. No independent verification or responses from the institutions mentioned were presented during the same appearance regarding these claims.
Accusations also targeting the defense sector
Berisha also leveled accusations over the activity of companies linked to Yeffet in the defense sector. According to him, these entities have been involved in suspicious operations and in contracts for which he claims the legal and financial criteria are not met.
He also mentioned claims about weapons purchases in war zones and attempts to exert influence over other activities of strategic interest. These statements, too, were made without being accompanied at that moment by public documentation verified by third parties.
The political clash and the weight of the accusations
At the core of Berisha’s statement is the accusation that the government has used executive power to favor private interests in sensitive sectors, from defense to property and public funds. He also spoke of claims concerning private property in Zall Herr, accusing authorities of intervention to the detriment of citizens.
So far, the statements remain political accusations raised publicly by the opposition. Their weight is significant, as they involve the state budget, security structures and the defense sector, but full clarification requires institutional transparency and factual verification beyond the rhetoric of the day.
The accusations articulated by Berisha place at the center a chain of claims affecting public money, security and the relationship between business and power.
In the absence of a detailed response from the institutions mentioned, the issue remains a test of transparency and accountability in a field where opacity is often greater than public information.
