President Bajram Begaj has reacted to the tensions recorded during the protest in Tirana, while the institution of the head of state has issued a call for calm, restraint and dialogue. The reaction comes in a tense climate, where for several consecutive days the capital has seen clashes, accusations and public concern over the escalation of the situation.

The President’s reaction after the unrest
In his statement, Begaj said he had followed the protests and the citizens’ demands, as well as the acts of violence of recent days. He stressed that the voice of every citizen must be heard, especially that of young people, whom he described as the hope and future of the country.
At the same time, the President underlined that violence cannot serve as a solution, warning that it harms society, undermines citizens’ security and deepens polarization in democratic life.
Call for calm and cooperation
Begaj asked that in these moments calm, responsibility and dialogue prevail, while calling on the actors involved to cooperate in order to stabilize the situation that Tirana has been experiencing for three days.
His message is aimed at lowering tensions, but without giving a clearer address on the concrete parties responsible for the escalation of events, at a time when public opinion expects more than general appeals for restraint.
Message on order and the injured
The President called on the sides to avoid violence and not to allow, in his words, tensions to undermine the constitutional order and the stability of the country. He also encouraged the law enforcement forces in carrying out a duty he described as delicate.
The reaction also included wishes for a speedy recovery for all the injured, both from the ranks of the police and among the protesters.
Room for dialogue, according to the Presidency
At the end of his position, Begaj declared that he remains open to anyone seeking space for dialogue and understanding, linking this to the responsibility and powers granted to him by the Constitution.
According to the President, the actors involved should dedicate themselves to dialogue and cooperation in the interest of the youth and the country. The reaction comes at a moment when it remains to be seen whether institutional calls will be accompanied by concrete steps to reduce the crisis on the ground.
The head of state’s appeal places the emphasis on dialogue, but developments on the ground have already raised broader questions about the management of the protest, institutional responsibilities and the way public tensions in the capital are being handled.
