Traffic paralyzed at a sensitive junction in Tirana
Vehicle movement in this area of the Ring Road was paralyzed, while the road turned into a bottleneck for drivers.
Images and reports from the scene show that the obstacles were placed in the middle of the road, making normal circulation almost impossible on one of the capital’s busiest segments.
Garbage bins in the middle of the road and flames during the protest
Protesters threw metal barriers and garbage bins onto the asphalt. Later, some of the bins were burned, further escalating the situation on the ground.
This development added to the chaos in the area and made intervention on the ground even more complicated.
A vehicle is also reported to have been struck with stones
According to reports from the scene, protesters also struck a vehicle that was on the side of the road with stones.
No further details have been given about the damage or the circumstances of this episode, while the situation in the area remains tense.
The incident once again highlights how an important urban axis can quickly become non-functional when tension on the ground remains uncontrolled.
For drivers, the immediate consequence was the complete blockage of traffic at one of Tirana’s most problematic traffic junctions.
